The Winston Knolls School, announced today, Orland Park resident, Barbara T. Doyle, the 2017 recipient of the Margaret Bancroft Distinguished Leadership Award. Barbara T. Doyle is an author, educator, keynote presenter, and consultant with 45 years of experience. Barbara’s goals are inclusive communities in which everyone can belong, contribute, communicate, participate, and be safe. The focus of her career has been children and adults with autism spectrum disorder, autism with hearing and/or vision impairment, autism with mental health issues, intellectual/developmental disabilities, deafness, and deaf blindness.

The Winston Knolls 2016 End of Year Appeal

(Hoffman Estates, IL) The Winston Knolls School continues in the efforts to expand our academic and related service programs, steadily maintain the expansion of our school district reach and educate students ages 3-19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder, emotional -behavioral disorders, specific learning disabilities, developmental disabilities and other intellectual disabilities. The award recognizes all aspects of excellence in special education teaching and in special education teaching-related activities that foster students' desire for lifetime of individual achievement, independence and learning. Mrs. Debra Thomas is a special education teacher in math, science, and consumer economics at Rich East High School in Park Forest (University of Illinois and Governors State University).
